FAQ Questions
Applicant Questions:
How is a person nominated to get a C2Y carrier?
A person is nominated for a carrier either by someone else or in a self-nomination. Nominations should be completed only if the nominee is eligible for assistance through the C2Y program. Information about eligibility is available on our website and on our Facebook page.
Am I allowed to nominate myself?
Yes, you may send a self-nomination. Please review our files and then complete a self-nomination using our Google Form.
Can I nominate someone without their knowledge to surprise them?
You may complete a nomination form as a surprise for someone, but the person you are nominating will need to work with a member of the verification committee before becoming a verified applicant.
Can a nominee reapply if not chosen for a C2Y loaned carrier?
Nominations/Applications will roll over from month to month. If you receive a carrier between the time you apply and are loaned a carrier, please email c2y.ask.us@gmail.com to let us know that you no longer need to be on our nomination list.
How are nominees approved to receive a C2Y loaned carrier?
All nominee applications are reviewed by our verification team. As nominees are verified, they will be contacted by a member or two of our verification committee.
How does the C2Y poll work?
The number of carriers added to our lending library (and families receiving carriers) fluctuates based on fundraising efforts from the months prior. Each month 10-20 nominees will be listed in a poll. Members of the Close 2 You Facebook Group will read stories from the nominees and vote for nominees to become recipients of a C2Y carrier.
Recipient Questions:
Are only tulas loaned, or are other types of carriers loaned?
The C2Y lending library has standard & toddler size Tulas, infant inserts, Kinderpacks, Ergos, ring slings and wraps. The team will work with the recipient to loan a carrier that fits the needs of the child and baby-wearer.
Once a nominee receives a carrier through your program, is it permanently theirs?
No, all carriers must be returned to C2Y.
How long can a recipient keep their loaned C2Y carrier?
Carrier loans are up to 1 year. If the recipient purchases or receives a carrier before the year is up, the C2Y carrier needs to be returned to be passed on to a new recipient.
How should recipients properly wash their loaned C2Y carrier?
If you have a C2Y Tula, you can wash it in your washing machine with a mild detergent in cold water as needed. Do not put it in the dryer! If you have a carrier other than a Tula, contact a C2Y admin or check out the manufacturer’s website for care instructions.
What happens if a loaned C2Y carrier is not returned or is returned damaged?
Carriers lost or severely damaged (beyond normal wear and tear) will need to be replaced. Recipients will be billed for carriers not returned.
Can a recipient buy their loaned monogrammed carrier they received through C2Y?
No. All monogrammed carriers must be returned to C2Y.
Can I purchase my own drool pads or hood to use with my carrier?
Yes! You may accessorize your carrier with drool pads or a hood but the carrier itself may not be painted, sewn or or otherwise changed.
